Porcelain Veneers
Natural looking porcelain veneers in Palo Alto, designed conservatively by Dr. Shawn Sharma. Compare veneers, bonding and whitening at a smile consultation.

Porcelain veneers are thin, custom ceramic shells bonded to the front of your teeth. They can brighten color, refine shape and close small gaps for a smile that looks natural rather than done. Dr. Shawn Sharma designs veneers around your face, your bite and your enamel. He always compares them with more conservative options first.
What happens at a smile consultation?
We start by listening to what you would like to change. Dr. Sharma examines your teeth and gums, reviews your bite and talks through every reasonable option, from whitening and bonding to veneers or clear aligners. You leave with a clear plan and its costs before any treatment begins.
Who is a good candidate for veneers?
Good candidates generally have healthy teeth and gums, enough enamel for predictable bonding and a bite that can support the new restorations. Decay, gum disease, heavy grinding or major tooth position problems may need attention first.
Do veneers require shaving the teeth?
Some enamel preparation is common. The amount varies from patient to patient. In carefully selected cases, preparation can be minimal. No prep treatment is not right for every patient because adding ceramic without creating enough space can make teeth look bulky. Learn about minimal prep veneers.
Veneers or bonding?
Composite bonding can be a more conservative and repairable choice for smaller changes. Porcelain offers excellent color stability and suits larger changes. The tradeoff is that porcelain is usually more costly and less reversible.
Veneers or orthodontics?
If the main issue is tooth position, clear aligners may correct it without covering healthy teeth. Sometimes aligners followed by minor bonding or whitening reduce the treatment you need.
The veneer process
Veneer treatment usually takes a few visits: planning, careful preparation, temporary veneers and final bonding. See what to expect at each step.
How long do veneers last?
Veneers can last many years, though they are not lifetime restorations. Chipping, debonding, gum changes and changes to the underlying tooth can eventually call for repair or replacement. Daily hygiene and protection from grinding help them last.
