Home/Insurance & payment
Understanding the cost of your care should be straightforward. Our team will help you review your benefits, explain estimated costs and answer questions before treatment begins.

Check your plan
Type your dental plan to see how it works at our office. Most PPO plans pay toward your care here. We are an independent practice, so we file your claim directly with your plan.
Your plan name is printed on your insurance card.
Start typing the name of your dental plan, or choose one of the options.
Good news
PPO plans pay toward care at any licensed dentist, including independent offices like ours. Here is how it works.
Your plan pays based on its own allowed amount, which can differ from our fee. Your estimate shows any difference up front.
Good to know
HMO plans typically pay only for visits to dentists in their own network, so your plan likely will not contribute toward care here. Many patients still choose us and pay directly. You will know every fee before we begin.
Good to know
Medi-Cal Dental covers care only at enrolled dentists. Our office is not enrolled, so Medi-Cal will not cover visits here. If you also have a private plan through work, type its name above.
No problem
You will know every fee before treatment begins. You pay your portion at the visit.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.
We can help
We could not find that plan in our list. Most PPO plans can still be used here.
Include your insurance details with your new patient forms at least 48 hours before your visit. We will confirm your plan is active and review your benefits before you arrive.
Using your insurance
If you have a PPO plan, you can likely use your benefits toward your care here. Palo Alto Oral Health is an independent practice and is not contracted with dental insurance companies.
We submit dental claims on your behalf as a courtesy. Please provide your insurance information with your new patient paperwork at least 48 hours before your appointment so we can verify that your plan is active and review your available benefits.
Your insurance company determines reimbursement according to your specific plan. Its payment may be based on the amount it allows for a procedure, which can differ from our fee. A plan that covers “80%,” for example, may cover 80% of that allowed amount rather than 80% of our fee.
Understanding your costs
Before treatment, we provide a treatment plan outlining our fees, your estimated insurance contribution and your estimated portion due at the time of service.
Insurance estimates are not guarantees of payment. You are responsible for any amount your plan does not cover. If your insurer sends reimbursement directly to you, you will still need to pay any balance owed to our office.
Payment policy
Your estimated portion is due at the time of service. Any remaining balance billed afterward is due within 20 days of the statement date.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. You can also pay a statement online at any time.
Second opinions
If you have questions about a diagnosis or treatment recommendation, we welcome the opportunity to provide a second opinion. Dr. Sharma will listen to your concerns, evaluate your oral health and explain his findings and your options so you can make an informed decision.
An examination is required before we can provide a diagnosis or recommendation. Please arrange for relevant X rays, clinical notes and related medical records to reach our office before your appointment, and provide your insurance information at least 48 hours ahead so we can prepare an informed estimate.
