Single Tooth Replacement with Implant

A single dental implant can replace one missing tooth without using the neighboring teeth as supports. The implant serves as an artificial root and, after appropriate healing, an abutment and crown are attached to restore the visible tooth.

Why choose a single-tooth implant?

An implant can be a useful option when the teeth next to the space are healthy and there is adequate bone and gum support. It allows the adjacent teeth to remain untouched, which is different from a conventional dental bridge.

Is an implant always the best replacement?

No. A bridge, removable option or in selected situations no replacement at all may be reasonable. The condition of neighboring teeth, location of the missing tooth, bone anatomy, bite, age, health, treatment time and cost all matter.

When can an implant be placed after an extraction?

Timing varies. Some implants can be placed at the time a tooth is removed. Other sites benefit from healing or bone grafting before implant placement. Immediate placement does not automatically mean an immediate final crown.

What matters for a front tooth implant?

Replacing a front tooth is particularly dependent on gum architecture, bone position, implant placement and the shape of the final restoration. The goal is not only to integrate an implant but to create a result that is harmonious with the adjacent teeth and soft tissue.
