Avoid these X foods to protect your gums

Avoid these X foods to protect your gumsIn terms of dental health, each person knows that sugar rots the teeth and we know that sugar must be avoided to maintain healthy teeth. When it comes to gum disease we know that this is caused by the accumulation of plaque and tartar and it leads to an inflammatory response that in turn brings about gum disease. If gingivitis is left untreated it causes periodontal gum disease. The bacteria infect the teeth and the little pockets that are between gums and teeth and this can lead to tooth loss. The foods that we eat can lead to gum disease and so we should avoid taking some foods that can later cause health havoc.

Soda

Soda is a sugary beverage that is one of the worst things you can drink for your teeth and gums. While ordinary soda is high in sugar, diet soda is low in sugar and high in phosphoric and citric acid. The acid eats away at tooth enamel, allowing bacteria to flourish. Plaque bacteria love sugar, turning it into acid and causing more tooth and gum damage. Caffeinated sodas are also hazardous for your gums because caffeine can induce a dry mouth. This stops saliva's enamel-protecting proteins and minerals from fixing gum disease's early indications. Visit the dentist to get more information on the best drinks that you can take with natural sugars.

Sports Drinks

Sports drinks have been more popular in recent years, and while they may appear to be a healthy method to hydrate, they include acids and sugar. The acid in sports drinks makes your teeth more sensitive to bacteria that feed on the sugar in these drinks. Bacteria can then enter the cracks in your tooth enamel, causing decay. Cavities, gum disease, and even periodontal disease can develop if tooth decay is left untreated.
