Neglecting Tooth Pain Will Not Make it Go Away

Neglecting Tooth Pain Will Not Make it Go AwayMany people start to experience tooth pain and understand that it is not going to go away. The pain will continue until the infection or cavity has completely rotted the tooth.

Understanding what is going on behind the pain can help you understand when to get help and its importance. However, no matter what is causing the pain, you need to come in and seek treatment from our office if you want to get relief.

What is Tooth Pain?

Most people struggle with tooth pain because their enamel has gotten worn down or because their gums have receded to the point of root exposure. In both of these examples, hot and cold temperature changes will lead to discomfort. You can often get some relief by switching to a sensitivity toothpaste, but that will not correct the root problem that causes the pain.

The same goes if you have tooth pain that stems from a cavity. The longer the area is left to decay, the worse that decay will become, and the worse the pain will get.

How to Treat Tooth Pain

If you are experiencing tooth pain, the best thing you can do is to call and make an appointment with our office. It may be manageable now, but tooth pain can rapidly accelerate into unbearable pain like when the tooth abscesses. Some home remedies that work well for minor to medium tooth pain are to rinse with salt water or put a bag with ice against the cheek of the offending tooth. Over the counter pain medication can usually suffice until we see you, as well.

If you are currently suffering from tooth pain, give us a call today. We will get you scheduled as soon as possible. We are here to assist in your oral health care.
